HTC has finally revealed the launch date for the HTC One Plus, after a year of rumours, speculation and leaks. After all that, it looks like those whispers of a New York event were true. Or half true anyway.
The HTC One Plus is expected to stick to the acclaimed design of the HTC One, with a slightly larger 5in display, beefed up innards and dual rear cameras which could provide Lytro-like post-shot refocusing.
The all new HTC One dual camera purpose is finally revealed
The camera app includes a new shooting mode known as Zoe (alluding to the zoetrope), which captures a short video alongside each photo taken. Individual frames can be saved from the clip, while the frames can also be used with other editing features such as Sequence Shot (which superimposes multiple frames into a composite image). Photos taken in Zoe mode are also displayed with animated thumbnails in the gallery. The Highlights feature can automatically generate a montage video from photos and videos with multiple theme and soundtrack options. The resulting video can be exported, or posted online through the HTC Share service (where they are accessible for 30 days).[30][41] A television guide app is also provided, which incorporates remote control functionality via an infrared blaster hidden in the One's power button, show recommendations powered by Peel, and the ability to display show reminders as stories on BlinkFeed.[30][46] An updated music app now includes a visualizer and support for on-screen lyrics.[46] An updated version of the Get Started feature (as introduced by HTC One X+) allows users to perform initial setup for their One via a web-based service, while a new Sync Manager allows data to be migrated from iOS device backups or HTC devices with Android 4.0 and higher. As with all devices in the One series, 25 GB of Dropbox storage is available free for two years.[46] Using NFC, the One can also share content between other compatible Android devices with Android Beam, and conduct mobile payments where compatible systems (such as FeliCa in Japan) are available.[47][48]
As you can see in the picture below, the new flagship will be made of anodized aluminum, which we've come to expect from OnePlus. However, a dual-lens rear camera setup is entirely new in the OnePlus series and will be used similarly to the iPhone 7 Plus to create a shallow depth of field effect.
The OnePlus 5 will come sporting a 16+20 (wide-angle and telephoto, respectively) megapixel dual camera setup with new features allowing you to take clearer photos than ever before. The features you get from this will be similar to the iPhone 7 Plus, where a nice bokeh effect can be created for portrait photos.
This has been a very busy year for Android flagship phones. If you're an Android fan, there are definitely no shortage of choices for you to choose from. However, there's one brand that still has some people waiting just a little bit longer to upgrade: Nokia. HMD Global, the company that licensed the Nokia brand to rebuild the company's smartphone portfolio, has finally revealed the Nokia 8 which seems to have the specs and price to compete against the other heavy hitters in the Android smartphone space.
First the all important specs: The Nokia 8, like most 2017 flagships, is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835. It has a 5.3-inch 25601440 IPS screen, 4GB of memory, 64GB of storage, and a Carl Zeiss branded dual-camera setup (more on that later).
Other major features of note included with the iPad mini, or at least the version to launch in Australia, include support for the 4G mobile broadband networks of Telstra and Optus (using the 1800Mhz spectrum band), dual-band Wi-Fi support, including 802.11n and the usual built-in speakers and microphones. The battery included with the iPad mini is a 16.3 watt-hour model, and its main camera is a five megapixel model supporting 1080p HD video recording. The front-facing camera, for video-conferencing, supports 720p HD video and is a 1.2 megapixel model. 2ff7e9595c
